National Games Day Chess Tournament
At the Antioch Public Library District

Celebrate National Games Day with a chess tournament for students K-12 and adults
Saturday, November 15, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

This is a free event sponsored by the Antioch Public Library District

Format: a Swiss-style tournament. Each player will play five games of chess. There is no elimination. Time control is Game/25 with five second delay, so each game could take approximately one hour. Five unrated sections, no membership required. One USCF-rated section,5R SS G/25 d5. USCF membership required for this section only, join in advance at www.uschess.org . Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.

Prizes: Sections K-2, 3-5, 6-8- 9-12, and Adult: prizes to the top three players in each section. USCF-rated section: prizes to top 3 overall, one K12U1400, K8U1000, K5U600, and K3U400. Sportsmanship prizes and participation gifts as well.

Team Prizes: Group of two or more players from the same school, club or family can also sign up as a team. Fun team prizes will be awarded. Team members can play in different sections.

Food: Is permitted in the waiting room (skittles room) only. Covered drinks are permitted in the entire library. No food is available for purchase on-site. Bring food and drinks for snack/lunch, or fast food is available in the local area.

Schedule: 9 to 9:30 a.m. Check In and Registration. Rounds ASAP with 30 minute lunch break. Awards ceremony estimated around 3:30 p.m., could be earlier or later.

Registration: Please pre-register if possible! This helps allow a faster check-in and start of the first round. To pre-register go to www.apld.info, click on programs, go to the November calendar and enter your information. Or, call us at 847-395-0874 ext. 230. This event will be limited to the first 60 participants.

Late Arrivals, Early Departures: Late arrivals will join the tournament in the next round (space permitting). Players may leave for 1 or more rounds and then return to play in later rounds. Notify the Tournament Director of any late arrivals, early departures, or returning players.

Parking: Free parking available on-site.

Smoking: Smoking is not permitted in the library.

Equipment: Chess sets will be provided in the playing area. Bring chess clocks if you have them (optional). Bring chess sets for the skittles area (optional). Bring pen or pencil if you want to take notation. Taking notation is optional in the unrated sections.
