LakeView Technology Academy Chess Tournament Free! $500 in Prizes! Two $100 Scholarships!
Who: All students grades K-12 (see notes below regarding eligibility for top prizes)
When: Saturday, January 28, 2017. Check in from 8 to 8:30 am. Awards ceremony after fifth round, estimated between 1 and 3 pm.
Where: LakeView Technology Academy, 9449 - 88th Ave, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 Easy access from I-94. Located on County H just north of Highway 165
How: All students will play 5 games of chess in a Swiss-style (modified round robin) format. There is no elimination, and each student will play each round. All are welcome, beginners to advanced players. Games will be Game/25 with 5 second delay. The tournament is not rated, and USCF membership is not required.
Individual Prizes in each section K-2 Unrated: Chess sets to first, second & third K-5 Unrated: Digital chess clock to first, chess sets to second & third K-8 Unrated: Digital chess clock to first, chess sets to second & third K-12 Unrated: Two $100 scholarships (top male, top female), chess set to third Participation medals/prizes for all. Sportsmanship prizes in each section.
Note: Scholarships and chess clock prizes are limited to players who attend school in the following counties: Kenosha, Racine, Walworth and Lake. Home school students in those counties are eligible. Bring documentation of school address to check in (report card or registration).
Team Trophies: Two or more students in the same section from the same school will automatically be considered a “team.” The team score is the sum of the top 4 individual scores. 3 Team Trophies in K2 K5 (combined), 3 team trophies for K8/K12 sections together Cost: Free with early online registration by January 26th at 11 pm Or $5 per student if registering at the door (payable by cash or check to KCA)

Notes: Adult supervision is required for individual students grades K-8 and all teams. Family members are allowed in the playing area and are welcome to watch the games. Lunch and other goodies will be available for purchase; or bring your own. Bring chess sets, books or other quiet activities for breaks between each round.
